The construction of the Novokakhovsky electric machine-building enterprise began in 1955 in accordance with the fifth five-year plan for the development of the USSR national economy
In 1957, the plant was commissioned and began production. In 1965, the plant began to produce several types of electric motors that had electrical parameters at the level of the best world standards.
For the first ten years of activity (1957 - 1967), the plant manufactured 1.2 million electric motors and 2 thousand large electric machines.
For production achievements, in 1967 the plant was given the honorary name: "named after the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution."
As of the beginning of 1982, the plant specialized in the production of industrial electric motors with power from 1 to 3.5 MW for enterprises of various industries that were used throughout the USSR and exported to several dozen countries. But as of the beginning of 1983, the electric motors produced by the plant were in great demand and exported to 39 countries, including to England, France and Japan.

In Soviet times, the "Novokakhovsky Electric Machine-Building Plant named after the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution" was one of the leading enterprises in the city.
After 1991, after the declaration of independence of Ukraine, the plant was transferred to the Ministry of Engineering, the military-industrial complex and the conversion of Ukraine.
In May 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine included the Novokakhovsky Electric Machine-Building Plant named after the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution in the list of enterprises subject to privatization during 1995, after which the state-owned enterprise was transformed into the Southern Electric Machine-Building Plant open joint-stock company (OJSC "Yuzhelektromash").
In 2000 The Workshop of Large Electric Machines (TsKEM) withdrew from the structure of OAO Yuzelectromash and reorganized into the Factory of Large Electric Machines - LEMP
"Large Electric Machine Plant" is one of the fastest growing enterprises in the electrical industry.
In the period from 2000 to the present time, the plant mastered the production of over 30 new types of electric motors, which is more than 100 types.
The main activities of the enterprise are:
ExpandIn 2004, the Engineering Center was established on the basis of the developing divisions with the invitation of a large group of specialists with many years of experience in the development of electric machines and the preparation of their production, experience in organizing and managing technical marketing, interaction with design institutes for organizing the implementation of developed products . The Engineering Center allowed LEMP to modernize the existing nomenclature, as well as to develop and introduce new types of electric machines.
The technology of manufacturing electric machines is constantly being improved, new types of technological equipment are used, which, along with the use of modern types of materials in the production process, can significantly improve the quality of products, which is always given priority. All this allows us to produce products with acceptance for nuclear power plants.
Today LEMP invests in the modernization of production sites, develops new distribution channels and modern approaches to the promotion of goods.
Based on the rich experience of engineering and design developments, LEMP offers its customers a wide range of electrical products, a set of ready-made design and engineering solutions, as well as intensive work on the development and industrial production of new types of products.
